How was The Care Foundation started?
In the wake of Hurricane Katrina in 2005, Heartland employees rallied together and created The Care Foundation to aid fellow Heartlanders affected by the catastrophe.
What is the focus of The Care Foundation?
The Care Foundation provides disaster relief and/or emergency hardship assistance to eligible employees in the United States, which excludes non-US employees and includes employees of other US entities, like TSYS, EVO, Como, etc., who experience a qualifying financial hardship for reasons beyond their control, and as a result are in need of immediate assistance.
What hardships qualify for assistance?
Examples of qualifying hardships include a natural disaster or terrorist attack that causes destruction of primary residence; severe medical condition of employee or their direct dependent causing extensive medical expenses which exceed the limits of insurance coverage; and other extraordinary financial hardships and emergency situations beyond the employee’s control.
What are the guidelines for submitting an application to The Care Foundation?
Assistance may be provided at the Board’s discretion for needs, which fall within the charitable purposes of The Care Foundation.
An applicant’s position in the company, continued employment or similar factors will not be considered in selecting applicants for support.
With the exception of a natural disaster, applicant must be a current employee with at least 6 months of employment with a Global Payments Inc. affiliate or subsidiary, though exceptions may apply for extraordinary circumstances
Applicant must provide a narrative description of how The Care Foundation can help.
Applicant must provide documentation regarding expenses and other relevant financial information including, but not limited to, copies of bills and medical bills, bank statements, and relevant court documents.
Additional information may be requested from the applicant’s supervisor and/or Human Resources with respect to any corrective actions taken against the applicant.
If assistance is approved, the employee may be requested to attend relevant courses recommended by The Care Foundation.
How is The Care Foundation funded?
The Care Foundation is a not-for-profit organization fully funded by employees of Global Payments.
How are applications submitted?
Applications are submitted through the form location on the Apply page of this website along with any supporting documentation. The application must be completed in its entirety, accurately and in a truthful manner. The applicant may be required to furnish additional information and/or documentation.
How much assistance can The Care Foundation provide?
Employees are eligible to apply for assistance once per rolling calendar year with the exception of a natural disaster or terrorist attack. There is a $7,500 per rolling calendar-year limit and a $30,000 maximum lifetime limit per employee, although the Board may make exceptions to the limit on a case-by-case basis or provide other forms of assistance.
How long does it take to receive assistance?
Decisions regarding applications typically require one week to process.
Who reviews the applications?
The Board of the Heartland Cares Foundation reviews all completed applications submitted. The Board approves requests in its sole discretion, considering, among other factors, resources available to both the applicant and the Care Foundation at the time of the request.
